How to Play Crazy Eights

Crazy Eights is a simple, fast shedding game: match the top card by suit or rank, and use the wild eights to change the suit when you are stuck.

It is played by two to four players with one 52-card deck.

Until someone reaches 100

Goal

  • Be the first to empty your hand. When someone reaches 100, the lowest penalty wins.

Table layout

  • You are at the bottom with the others around you. The discard pile and the face-down stock are in the middle.

How to play

  • 7 cards each with 2 players, 5 with 3–4.
  • Play a card of the same suit or rank as the top card.
  • If you have nothing to play, draw until a card fits.

Special card

  • 8: wild. Playable on anything, and you choose the new suit.

Scoring

  • When someone goes out, the others take penalties for their cards: 8 = 50, King, Queen, Jack = 10, Ace = 1, others face value.

Tips

  • Save your eights for when you have no other play. An eight left in your hand at the end costs 50.
  • Change to the suit you hold the most of.
  • Watch which suits the others draw on: they are likely out of that suit.

Controls

  • Tap the card you want to play. Tap the stock or Draw to draw.
